Place with Amazing Architecture - Ideal Palace - 17 January 2015

Place Around The World With Amazing Architecture
Ferdinand Cheval Palace a.k.a Palais Ideal

Hello everyone it's been awhile since i wrote something on my blog, i'm being so busy lately that it was so hard to update my blog, well last monday i got an assignment to post about a place with amazing architecture around the world so here goes....

The first places that come to my mind while i'm thinking about place with amazing architecture was France's Eiffel Tower, Italy's Pisa Tower, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, Taiwan's Taipei 101 but tower's already been reviewed too much for me. Next Greece's Colosseum, England's Stonehenge, America's Liberty Statue.. They're still too common for my taste... So that's why i searched amazing places on google.. and i accidentally found one that even have an amazing story

It was the Ferdinand Cheval Palace which was more known under the name of Palais Ideal for me it was the greatest, most extraordinary, and the most beautiful example of the Naive art architecture which have the childlike simplicity in technique and subject matter.. But the extraordinary effort of the creator has turned the "child play" into a jaw dropping wonderland made by stone, and i'm not exaggerating.. It is not made by super complex calculation or super modern tools.

It's located at 8 Rue du Palais Idéal, 26390 Hauterives, France. It was bulit by Ferdinand Cheval. At first you will thought that Ferdinand Cheval is a rich prince, or a rich conglomerate, or a ruthless dictator or even maybe a king? If you think so then you're wrong, he's just an ordinary guy, a postman to be exact. He spent 33 years of his life to create one of the greatest architectural piece in the world.

Ferdinand Cheval was born in Charmes-sur-I'Herbasse on 1836, he left home at 13 to become a baker's apprentice but later decided to be a postman. He started the construction of his palace at April 1879, he wrote at his journal :
"I was walking very fast when my foot caught on something that sent me stumbling a few meters away, I wanted to know the cause. In a dream I had built a palace, a castle or caves, I cannot express it well... I told no one about it for fear of being ridiculed and I felt ridiculous myself. Then fifteen years later, when I had almost forgotten my dream, when I wasn't thinking of it at all, my foot reminded me of it. My foot tripped on a stone that almost made me fall. I wanted to know what it was... It was a stone of such a strange shape that I put it in my pocket to admire it at my ease. The next day, I went back to the same place. I found more stones, even more beautiful, I gathered them together on the spot and was overcome with delight... It's a sandstone shaped by water and hardened by the power of time. It becomes as hard as pebbles. It represents a sculpture so strange that it is impossible for man to imitate, it represents any kind of animal, any kind of caricature."
"I said to myself: since Nature is willing to do the sculpture, I will do the masonry and the architecture"
For the next thirty-three years, Cheval picked up stones during his daily mail round and carried them home to build the Palais idéal.He spent the first twenty years building the outer walls. At first, he carried the stones in his pockets, then switched to a basket. Eventually, he used a wheelbarrow. He often worked at night, by the light of an oil lamp.
In the heart of a flourishing garden, he imagines a uninhabitable palace populated by an incredible bestiary: octopus, hind, caiman, elephant, pelican, bear, birds… But also giants, fairies, mythological figures or architectures from all the continents. An architectural work as unclassifiable as universal.

Cheval also wanted to be buried in his palace. However, since that is illegal in France, he proceeded to spend eight more years building a mausoleum for himself in the Hauterives cemetery. He died on 19 August 1924, about a year after he had finished building it, and is buried there.

Just before his death, Cheval began to receive some recognition from luminaries like André Breton and Pablo Picasso. His work is commemorated in an essay by Anaïs Nin. In 1932, the German artist Max Ernst created a collage titled The Postman Cheval. The work belongs to the Peggy

Guggenheim Collection and is on display there. In 1958, Ado Kyrou made Le Palais idéal, a short film on Cheval's palace.
In 1969, André Malraux, the Minister of Culture, declared the Palais a cultural landmark and had it officially protected. In 1986 Cheval was put on a French postage stamp.
It is open for visitors every day except Christmas Day, New Year's Day and 15 to 31 January.
Chuck Palahniuk's novel Choke includes a character named Denny who, like Cheval, is an uneducated deliveryman who gradually collects and assembles stones into his "dream home."
The Ideal Palace is a super amazing place that i wish i  can visit it at near future

Trip To Garut - Part 3 - Thursday, 31 December 2015

The next day i started my day with shalat then i went to play PS 2 as usual, as i always do i played "Smackdown : Here Comes The Pain", this time i was playing as Goldberg trying to take the championship from Eddie Guerrero man that ain't easy. But before i managed to challenge Guerrero my brother asked me to accompany him to sightsee Garut so i decided to turn of my PS 2 then preparing myself to accompany him.

The air is a bit cold and the cloudy weather didn't help at all, there was a lot of Delmans offering us to sightsee but i declined since my brother wouldn't go ver far, we just walked and see along what's interesting around there. There was a lot of Hotels and Small shops at Garut there was also a tour guide agency but it haven't opened up yet at 8 o'clock so we decided to go home immediately.

I then took a bath and relax in my bed, then my father proposed to all of us to have go and look around the city of Garut at 12.00, all of my family accepted the idea so we decided to go at 12.00. But unfortunately because a lot of circumstances we went to Garut City at 13.00. The first area we visited was Sukaregang which was known for it's high quality leather accessory, bags, shoes, and jackets.

The road was a bit crowded maybe since the people of Garut was preparing New Year's Eve, but i didn't bothered by that at all. But before we arrived to Sukaregang my dad decided to turn around and went to his friend's office, there my dad have a friendly conversation with his friend and also drink some coffee and read some newspaper. While waiting for my dad me and my mother played Scrabble on my phone, it's really fun

Well that's all for now

Trip To Garut - Part 2 - Wednesday, 30 December 2015

I then quickly prepared my belongings so i don't miss anything. After everything was prepared i go my dad's car to start the journey. The road to Garut was not so crowded as i thought before, and i was very relieved that there was no traffic jams, i then go to sleep for awhile, after passing tol Buah Batu. When i was awake we've already passed Lingkar Nagreg and there's no traffic at all. I'm so happy and excited.

Next we passed through Leles, the area was very famous for it's horrible traffic. Initially i was very worried but just as the road before us there were no traffic. Then we arrived at Cipanas, we initially asked around to one of the luxurious hotel there which was Sabda Alam but the price were very expensive there. So we then decided to go to a more cheap hotel but unfortunately the place were booked tomorrow so we decided to sleep at a new hotel which was Cipaganti

There was only one more room so we were lucky to get it. The room was very nice it was very spacy with two beds and a really large space to cook, and also TV, oh dont forget hot water. The first thing i did after carrying my luggage was to remove the hot water that was on the tub and change it with a new one, after i turn on the hot water my big brother asked me to set up PS 2 since the audio and the visual cable was still unplugged.

It's not an easy job plugging it though since the gap was so small, my hand even stuck on the back of the TV for around 2 minutes, after that i went to bathroom and started to bathe in the hot water. But it didn't last long though, i accidentally turned on the hottest water and so i can't stand it. So i just bathe for 10 minutes then i replace my brother for playing the PS 2, that routine repeat on and on until i sleep at 22.00

Trip To Garut - Part 1 - Wednesday, 30 December 2015

Okay, it's time for.... Another special post wkwk, it's been awhile since the last special of Gedung Sate Exploration so i decided to wrote another one.. This time a three day length post though so stay tuned.

This time i will tell you about the trip to Garut, actually i've been wanting this vacation since the start of School Holiday but my dad's been so busy lately but fortunately he could spend his time at Wednesday. But unfortunately this is not a pure vacation since my dad's vacation only because of he had to do some work at Garut.

Actually at first the job of monitoring Garut on new year's eve is not his job but his friend's job, but luckily his friend wants to go to Pangandaran. So my dad managed to got the monitoring job at Garut, but before i went to Garut i have to discuss about the Great Conference of PK again so i went to school again.

After the clock hit 11.00 i took an early leave since my dad told me that we will go after Dzuhur, before i reached home, i remembered that my brother actually asked me to bought "GTA San Andreas : Mortal Kombat Edition" so i decided to stop at a nearby game shop and i also bought "WWE : All Stars" then i arrived at 11.30

My Usual Holiday - Part 1 - Tuesday, 29 December 2015

Today i'm not going to far places, instead i started the day with relaxing as usual after shalat, i made a tea as usual, and also i watched the tv for news. Then as always i played "Smackdown : Here Comes The Pain" on my PS2, i have to kill time for today since i won't be going anywhere.

But then i decided that keep playing this game will not cure my boredom, so i quickly took a bath and then went to school to see what's happening there. There i saw a lot of people learning  additional maths (i guess a lot of people got a short semester on Mr. Agus's study) one of them was Sabrina, so i teased her about getting an SS

The teasing was not groundless though, because she got one remedial yet she failed it and got a short semester, while i got three remedials and yet don't get any Short Semester, then i wished her good luck and went with them to see who else got SP. I chat with them near the Language Lab when suddenly Avi texted me through line telling me to go to PK Room to continue discussion about the Great Conference.

So i decided it's the time to go down, but before i went to PK Room, i decided to take a peek at Teacher's Room. There i was called by my homeroom teacher, Mrs. Neneng Djubaedah. She asked me to told students on my class about my classmates who have to fix their scores so they wouldn't got short semester, i photographed the list then shared it to the LINE group of my class.

Then i went to PK's Room, apparently i was late for 10 minutes to start the discussion, after i apologized for my tardiness, i decided to start the forum. But Oi reminded me of the quorum of members which haven't yet fulfilled, so we wait while we chat which each other. Thankfully after some time the forum was able to start without a problem.

After the forum i decided to go home instead of going to Takolada with the others, honestly there is nothing much to write about today that's why there's only 1 part on this post

Well That's everything for now

Thank's for reading :)
